چکیده

Although titanium and its alloys are extensively used in orthopedics dentistry fields, implant failures still happen because of implant-associated infections. Herein, Au@Ag@Pt core–shell nanorods with noble metal combination were fabricated assembled on medical surface the antibacterial activity biocompatibility investigated. The results showed that rates Ti–Au@Ag@Pt against S. epidermidis P. aeruginosa 89.7% 92.7%, respectively. Besides, no obvious cell toxicity MC3T3-E1 cells grew well sample surface. It was discovered Pt shell layer slowed down Ag ion release rate which endowed both good biocompatibility.

Both Enhanced Biocompatibility and Antibacterial Activity in Ag-Decorated TiO2 Nanotubes

In this study, Ag is electron-beam evaporated to modify the topography of anodic TiO2 nanotubes of different diameters to obtain an implant with enhanced antibacterial activity and biocompatibility. We found that highly hydrophilic as-grown TiO2 nanotubes became poorly hydrophilic with Ag incorporation; however they could effectively recover their wettability to some extent under ultraviolet li...

Biocompatibility and antibacterial activity of nitrogen-doped titanium dioxide nanoparticles for use in dental resin formulations

The addition of antibacterial functionality to dental resins presents an opportunity to extend their useful lifetime by reducing secondary caries caused by bacterial recolonization. In this study, the potential efficacy of nitrogen-doped titanium dioxide nanoparticles for this purpose was determined. Nitrogen doping was carried out to extend the ultraviolet absorbance into longer wavelength blu...

Enhancement of antibacterial properties of Ag nanorods by electric field.

The effect of an electric field on the antibacterial activity of columnar aligned silver nanorods was investigated. Silver nanorods with a polygonal cross section, a width of 20-60 nm and a length of 260-550 nm, were grown on a titanium interlayer by applying an electric field perpendicular to the surface of a Ag/Ti/Si(100) thin film during its heat treatment at 700 °C in an Ar+H2 environment. ...

Antibacterial burst-release from minimal Ag-containing plasma polymer coatings.

Biomaterials releasing silver (Ag) are of interest because of their ability to inhibit pathogenic bacteria including antibiotic-resistant strains. In order to investigate the potential of nanometre-thick Ag polymer (Ag/amino-hydrocarbon) nanocomposite plasma coatings, we studied a comprehensive range of factors such as the plasma deposition process and Ag cation release as well as the antibacte...

Release Behavior and Antibacterial Activity of Chitosan/Alginate Blends with Aloe vera and Silver Nanoparticles

Aloe vera is a perennial plant employed for medical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic purposes that is rich in amino acids, enzymes, vitamins and polysaccharides, which are responsible for its therapeutic properties. Incorporating these properties into a biopolymer film obtained from alginate and chitosan allowed the development of a novel wound dressing with antibacterial capacity and healing effec...
